I enjoyed it so much, and I'm so glad that there is such a growing wealth of writing about food system issues at the moment - I mean, how lucky we are to have Alicia Kennedy, Civil Eats, to name a few, as you mentioned. And you, of course. It might feel like a drop in the ocean, but I find it to be cause for hope, at least - the need for active hope, as opposed to the complacency borne out of optimism or pessimism, being something you highlighted so well in this piece.
Thank you so much for your extremely kind comment! I feel incredibly lucky to have this wealth of food writing that goes into the social justice contexts and want to support it and add to it. I was just thinking after I published the essay about how it feels like a drop in the bucket (I smiled when you used the similar idea of drop in the ocean) which can be discouraging at times, but your comment and the growing community in this area is really giving me hope these days :)
I'm so glad :) with writing, so much of it can be all this time on our own not knowing what we're really doing or why or whether it will resonate with anyone, and it can be so easy to lose faith. If all we can do for each other is to reignite that faith with a like and a comment and a pep talk here and there, then that's what we'll do :)
This was an excellent essay.
